Barbarossa

Well that’s a mouth full but we needed a name that conjured up the heritage of this king of VW vans.

He is a 1965 original English RHD 21 window deluxe Samba. Rescued from a certain death at the hands of rust, he is now ready to give you a right royal holiday in Devon and Cornwall. Fitted with a 2 berth interior, 21 gorgeous little windows (some of which feature in the roof), and a vast full length sun roof, he is the epitome of summer holidays.

Just a note. When booking Barbarossa, please use his full name and not a shortened ‘Barb’ or ‘Bob’ as he is royalty. Thank you for your co-operation.

Barbarossa was restored in 2008. Pete and Sam took him out to the beach on Sunday (5th April 2009), rolled back the sun roof and the 3 of them (Pete, Sam and Barbarossa) soaked up the glorious first sun of the summer, enjoyed the fab view at Widemouth while the children frolicked in the waves. Barbarossa offers a double bed, a small bed over the engine bay (up to 5 years old) and he can be fitted with a child cab bunk which provides a further berth suitable for a child 3 to 7 years old.

He also comes with the following facilities included in the price: awning which attaches to the van, cool box (12v/240v), cooker, sink with onboard water, mains hook up (to access electricity at campsites if you fancy), 2 bottles of camping gaz, CD player with aux for ipod, internal and external sets of tables and chairs, interior and exterior lights, electric fan heater, cycle rack, luggage rack on the roof, cooking equipment, cutlery, crockery - everything you might need down to salt and pepper and washing up liquid. You can choose any more extras you may fancy when you book your van.

During the peak summer holidays (23rd July to 27th August) Barbarossa will be available for weekly hires Monday 2.30pm - Monday 10.00am. Check out his diary by clicking on dates below.

Sleeps 2 plus 2 small children (with optional child's bunk). 5 Seat belts: three lap and diagonal in the front and two lap belts in the rear.
